About the Author(s)

Professor Albert Dharmasiri is the first Sri Lankan Emeritus Professor of Painting of the University of Visual and Performing Arts in Colombo (UVPA), who is also a professional printmaker and graphic artist. He was a Lecturer, Professor at the UVPA and its predecessor institutions, the Government College of Fine Arts and the Institute of Aesthetic Studies of the University of Kelaniya. In 1983 he was elected to the Executive Committee of the International Association of Art (UNESCO) in Paris becoming its Vice-Chairman in 1986. He has exhibited his paintings and prints both at home and abroad and has a few publications co-authored by him.

The book is a portrait of the artist George Keyt, the inexhaustible genius blessed with an extraordinary creative imagination, whose artistic creations have played a central role in the cultural life of the nation for over half a century. He was one of Sri Lanka’s greatest painters of the twentieth century with an absolute dedication to art, illuminated by his Bohemian personality who transformed himself into a legend in his own lifetime. The images of his pictorial narratives are powerful, vibrant and erotically charged.
